May Reviews From Our Wonderful Guests

When we first opened our home to the world we were a little concerned about having strangers in our home.  But we are grateful to report that Airbnb guests are among the most amazing people we’ve ever met. We’ve shared our home with thousands of people who show up as strangers and often leave as friends. Some guests return more than once and become very close. Others are here to see the sites and they may barely interact with us, but almost everyone is extremely kind, courteous and respectful.

We serve a full breakfast every morning and it’s wonderful to get to know people from all over the world, who gather at our table.

We’ve had very few problems, out of thousands of guests, maybe a handful, and Airbnb is very supportive in assisting us in removing people who don’t respect our space, and in resolving other issues as well.  Their customer service isn’t perfect, but it’s impressive when you can reach an empowered person at 2 am.

It’s hard work. Don’t let the detractors of home sharing fool you. This is not passive income. A bnb home has to be super clean, and welcoming guests to our home occurs at all hours of the day and night.

We loved staying at Dragonfly Hill! Warm, knowledgable hosts who cook a phenomenal breakfast. The Frida room is a great deal as we basically had the entire kitchenette and shared bathroom to ourselves (although as they explained, this varies from booking to booking). Echo Park is the best neighbourhood to stay in for those who want to explore LA’s more interesting neighbourhoods and the park itself is really pretty. Highly recommend staying at the Dragonfly (and if you do too then definitely try out the nearby taco truck for the best tacos we’ve ever eaten!!). Thanks Dragonfly!!

I highly recommend staying at dragonflyhill urban farm. The people you meet are unforgettable and the sense of community is really present. You are both very close to downtown and koreatown (ask the hosts for recommendations.) By far the most attentive airbnb hosts I’ve ever had. Can’t say enough good things about this place!

Thank you guys so much for making our stay in LA so memorable! We enjoyed every second of it. I can’t wait to go home and make my own version of y’alls community breakfast (now that I know the secret to your breakfast sausages 😉 )

Wonderful place with very comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts and very helpful hosts. I would recommend this place, including to wheelchair users wanting a taste of staying in an Air B’n’B. DragonflyHill has a real community feel to it which I thoroughly enjoyed. It really felt like we were coming home every night. Thanks to the team for a great stay!

Thanks for staying with us. You and Ida were wonderful guests. Especially helpful were your private suggestions on how to improve wheelchair accessibility and improved ways to communicate to guests what our access includes and what challenges it presents. We will use your suggestions in the future.

We Can’t Please Everyone. Justin gave us 2 stars. We suggest he read the listing more carefully.

The owners live there. There are accordion doors on the shared bathroom, divide between the 2 rooms, and a random 1 in the back of the room. It is easily able to unlock. Location is great. Breakfast is good, but its a sit down with the host and other guests. Not that is a bad thing just so you are aware. House would not have been as bad if we knew what we were going into. House is old which is cool, but it smells very musty/mild dew. I would not stay there again. Would rather of stayed at a hostel or a cheaper hotel.

    Response from DragonflyHill:
Our listing provides detailed descriptions & photographs of our home, & many of the issues Justin raised in his review should have been anticipated. It was immediately clear that the accommodations were a severe disappointment to his girlfriend & his sister. We recommend in the future that Justin read airbnb listings with greater care & plan the trip with his travel companions to assure that travel plans provide the type of accommodations that they require. Not to do so puts both his travel companions and hosts in an uncomfortable and awkward situation where there is often no remedy. He might also attempt to communicate with the host before or making a reservation to assure that accommodations meet his needs. Justine is correct to consider renting hotel rooms, with separate rooms for each of his travel companions, or consider a whole house/apartment listings. Though those options may cost more. While we are airbnb superhosts, we’re not for everyone. Each Airbnb listing is unique. When you stay at DragonflyHill Urban Farm, you are guests in our home which is clearly stated in the listing. We have special doors downstairs to provide greater wheelchair access, and Justin chose to book via instant book, our wheelchair accessible suite. We clean our home deeply several times a week, as reflected in our 5 star reviews for cleanliness. We work very hard to provide our guests super host service. It is very demoralizing when guests don’t read the listing or consider all members of their group when selecting to stay with us, It saddens us when people aren’t comfortable here, so we’re very careful to make our listing an accurate reflection of our home. It is also unfair to hosts when the evaluation by guests critique features clearly detailed in the listing description and in the photographs.

The dragonflyhill is a community. And a beautiful one at that. If father Christmas were an actual human, he could be Andy. Warm, full of laughter and love and so genuine. Emma is so well read and it was such a pleasure talking to her about so many things from sociology to pop culture. Having breakfast with everyone every morning was so incredibly satisfying. My son, who is 6 is completely in love with dragonflyhill – there is an amazing cat, puppies and fruit trees. This truly is a gem of a community and we enjoyed every minute of staying here. Added bonus is the best corner taco truck there is. Echo park is also really close as is a delightful public library.

    Response from DragonflyHill:
It was lovely having you both stay with us. We are part of a lovely and dynamic community, which includes our neighbor’s puppies who stay in their yard, next to ours. Our neighbors are wonderfully welcoming to our guests. We don’t personally have any dogs, and just the one cat.

Had a wonderful stay at Dragonfly. Host was gracious and breakfast everyday was wonderful. We were very comfortable and pleased especially with them waiting for us due to our late flight arrival. Will stay again next time in LA. Thank you Dragonfly Host & Staff!

Andy, Emma, and the rest of the Dragonfly Hill Team were absolutely incredible. I enjoyed a wonderful stay in the beautiful and inspiring Frieda Room. I would recommend this booking to family, friends, and others alike. Truly a special little space full of love, light, and the warmth of a home. Thanks for making my first few days in Los Angeles comfortable, cozy, and all around special!

    DragonflyHill

    Response from DragonflyHill:
It was wonderful having you here. For groups bigger than 2, the Frida Room would be too small, but the Lotus Suite, the Lavender Suite, or our Multiple Rooms options would accommodate families from 3 people to up to 11 people.

Nice room, very clean! Price was ideal. Location was good as well. Right outside DT LA, easy to get anywhere with our own car or with an Uber/Lyft. There was a yoga class on Saturday morning in the room next to us, which we could overhear. And the people doing the yoga class could use our bathroom. But no issues, just an FYI. Good place to stay at for a good price.

    DragonflyHill

    Response from DragonflyHill:
Just to clarify, all bathrooms in our home are shared bathrooms, which is explained in our listing descriptions. Guests who want private baths should look elsewhere. It’s the way the house is built and there’s nothing we can do about it. We provide sound machines if noise in adjoining rooms or ambient city sounds are a problem for our guests.
